Add 2 cups water to 1 cup of all-purpose flour gradually while beating then add 1 teaspoon of lye (lijia), 1 cup brown sugar plus a dash of red food coloring. Continue beating until ingredients are well blended. Pour on a round ungreased molders (3/4) full and cover with a cheese cloth and steam for 30 minutes. The water in the steamer must be boiling before molders are placed. Then serve with fresh grated coconut.
