To some (I’m referring to foreigners who happen to see and taste these in the Philippines ), these are Filipino desserts, but for me, these are not! We call these as “kakanin” from the word “kanin” and “kainin” which means rice and eat, respectively. These are made of glutinuous rice, coconut milk and sugar. Obviously that is how much Filipinos love carbs! We eat these not after meals like any other desserts, but rather, we eat these during snacks time, usually at 10 a.m. and 3 a.m., so that we will have enough supply of energy to consume for the rest of the day!
