Mangosteen Fruit

Thursday, June 5, 2008

Mangosteen is an evergreen tree that has leathery leaves and a round, purple or reddish-brown fruit that is smaller than a tennis ball. The bitter rind is inedible, and the juicy pulp fruit has about four to eight segments. Some say mangosteen taste range from strawberry, peach, vanilla ice cream with a very slight sourness. Other says it is mix between lychee and grapes or pear and strawberry.

Hi
I get dried mangosteen from Trader Joe's, it's really good...I think I'm addicted! Nice to see a pic of what it looks like.

When I'm in Thailand I eat them daily. So juicy and so good. Hard to get a hold of in the states but from what I have heard Thailand will be allowed to export many more fruits to America soon and they will start showing up in local shops.
